Notable People
Trovious the Mysterious
Trovious the Mysterious is a retired wizard who built a wizard’s tower across the river from Tallowbrook to get away from it all and live a quiet life of study and rest. Occasionally, the towns-folk refer to him as ‘Trovious the Delirious’ because of his odd tendencies, including a tendency to forget to put pants on under his wizard’s robe.
Balfor
Balfor is a hard-working farmer and an upstanding citizen of Tallowbrook. He is head of the farmer’s union, and a well respected member of the community. He has a pet leshy that follows him around which is very cute scary. Balfor has dryad blood in his immediate lineage, and exhibits natural druidic prowess, following the order of the leaf and spreading respect of nature to the other townsfolk.
The lady at the end of the stream
There lives a lady at the end of the stream who claims to have once lived in Tallowbrook, before the arrival of Trovious and his tower. She is friendly to all who visit her and enjoys piano music. Nobody from the town seems to be able to remember her living there, and she never provides her name. All the town seems to know is that she picks plants from the forest to make potions and tinctures. There is a childrens game that is played where they take a rowboat or canoe up the stream and dare each other to knock on her front door.
Lore
The ritual of The Silent Whisper
On the weeks leading up to the First of Hex 203, the summer solstice, Tallowbrook began to experience increasing numbers of monsters exiting the nearby forest and harming the townsfolk and livestock.
Eventually, after a particularly bad attack, with no sign of aid from the Kingdom of Mana or the nearby city of Harper Falls, Balfor decided to head into the forest to find the source of the increased monster problems and put a stop to it. Accompanied by a begrudging Trovious the Mysterious and an intrigued travelling bard who went by the name Jorgen Jorgenson, Balfor ventured into the forest.
After days of hard trek, with constant encounters with woodland beasts and monsters, the party came upon an old tower from a forgotten empire, in which lived a Priest of Whispers.
The priest was finishing the summoning of a servitor of The Silent Whisper as they arrived. The party engaged in combat, after first trying to reason with the priest, and managed to destroy the servitor and incapacitate the priest, taking him back to town to be handed over to reinforcements from The Kingdom of Mana.
