The elves
The elves are new to the Material plane. They arrived in Aramir many thousands of years ago after fleeing some catastrophic event in their home dimension.
Since then, some elves have remained in Aramir, close to their original landing point, feeding off of the ancient power seeping through the land to maintain their long lives, while the majority of the elves set off out into the world to explore, creating permanent settlements on the Seberus peninsula, and spreading all around.
When the elves explored Meia, they first encountered the humans of Qalb Alsahra, who had sent a group of one thousand men to scout the areas along the Hayat river. Due to a language barrier, after this encounter, the exploratory elves assumed that all humanoid races in Meia were humans, and that humans came in many different varieties, such as ‘short humans’, ‘big green humans’, ‘lizard humans’ and ‘cat humans’. Notably, a group of halflings managed to learn the ancient elven tongue, quickly settling into elven cities as halflings tend to do, and out of humor, perpetuated this misunderstanding for many decades.
The elves that left Aramir found that their aging increased tenfold, and they begun to die off after hundreds rather than thousands of years, though at this point they had already settled down, and many decided that their lives were still long enough.
The elves that remained in Aramir are known as ‘ancient elves’ and the elves that spread across Meia are known as ‘material elves’ and have developed the ability to adapt to their environment.
