Lake siyah

Not Done

Many thousands of years ago, before the arrival of the elves, Lake Siyah was just like its two brethren, it’s little brother Bati and it’s twin Yesil.

When the ancient Algolthu sent their mutated offspring inland, in search of new humanoid races to exploit and enslave, they came accross the lake and used it as a base of operations, and a breeding ground, becoming the first lizardfolk.

Knowing that these creatures, now being able to spread across land, would eventually enslave all other mortal races, the gods once again decided to intervene against them.

This, in the past, had been Solarum the Golden Light’s domain, but he had struck an accord with Heeda of the Sea that his divine brilliance be… tempered. Instead, Solarum visited his brother Verbrut the Diseased in his palace and asked for aid. Verbrut was happy to ‘invite’ more people to visit, and so cursed Lake Siyah, an area 500 miles in diameter, to be forever diseased.

Any plants that grow in and around Lake Siyah turn yellow, brown or black, many oozing revolting liquids and smelling of foul odours. Most creatures in the area must actively resist being sickened by the vileness of the cursed swampland, and those who spend too long find themselves becoming weak and exhausted.

Many denizens of Lake Siyah have long since grown accustomed to the divergent plant behavior and constant requirement to bolster their immune system, and the Lizardfolk themselves, after a thousand years of suffering, cut their ties to their Algolthu ancestors, and plead to Verbrut to end their suffering. Verbrut accepted a sacrifice of ten thousand souls in exchange for permanent immunity to the curse for all remaining Lizardfolk, given that they remain seperated from the Algholthu, and do not pursue the same evils as their ancestors.
